Singer song writer Outlaw Jake started writing songs at the young age of thirteen. Exposed to lots of music during his childhood gave him a wide array of musical influences.  His mother appreciated musical groups such as Zeppelin, Floyd and even Bon Jovi. His father enjoyed current country of the time like Alabama, Hank Jr and George Strait. Hanging out with his Grandfather, a truck driver of 35 years is where Outlaw really got the music bug. He would spend hours on a Saturday at his grandparent’s house; listening to records and playing guitar in their Lawrence, Kansas living room. Hank Snow, Red Sovine, Lefty Frizzell, Waylon and Cash would blare threw his ear drums and expose him to his greatest idols. It was not long after this that Outlaw Jake would discover Steve Earle Records, through Earle he found Towns Van Zant, Clark, Keen, the list would go on and on….

Outlaw Jake and the Chain Gang have been kicking around clubs in the north east Kansas area for over ten years now. He is also a former member of The Border Band; Dave and Robb have a chemistry and connection that is unlike any other rhythm section.  This has made the band grow in ways that are sure to bring Outlaw Jake and The Chain Gang to the next level.  The guys are very excited and ready to see where these new possibilities will take them!

The band also has several extended members that often jam with group such as Gib Thurman on Pedal Steel, Roger Holden plays the lead guitar, Jonathan Woods and Michelle Saenz often sings backup vocals. It is always a treat to have these guest performers come and jam.  The audience is always thrilled by the surprises that this innovative band has to offer.

“His music is pissed off and really rough. Waylon Jennings meets Townes Van Zandt. He’s really raw and brutally honest”
